The "DC2RVA Southeast High Speed Rail" organization has released updated information regarding its on-going Tier II Study for routing high speed rail through Hanover County. The Department of Rail and Public Transportation's (DRPT) plans currently envision additional passenger and freight trips between Washington, DC and Richmond. The results of this project will affect Hanover citizens and businesses directly.

Our role, as the Hanover Chamber of Commerce, is to serve always as a purposeful and informational source to our members and citizens. As the preeminent business and property rights association working to make Hanover a better place to live, work and play, and as a champion for the responsible economic vitality of Hanover County and the Town of Ashland, we will follow this project closely.

The documents below, the Resolution and White Paper, were approved by the Hanover Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors by a unanimous vote on June 2, 2016. These documents will be/have been shared with the DRPT office, the Hanover County Board of Supervisors, the Town of Ashland Council, local media contacts and all Chamber members.

Fall 2017

October 11 - To review DRPT's Environmental Impact Study for expanded rail in preparation for the Public Meeting Wed, Oct 11 at 6pm at Patrick Henry High School go to: dc2rvarail.com/draft/

September 11 - The next public meeting of the DRPT's Ashland/Hanover CAC will be on September 11, 6-9pm at R-MC's Blackwell Auditorium.  Check here for updates.

June 2017

A series of public meetings have begun. The next session, led by DRPT, will take place on Monday, June 26th at 6-8pm at the Hanover Courthouse, in the boardroom. 

December 2016

Recently, the DRPT and DC2RVA rail released updates. There were also 2 meetings held with, around or about the Hanover and Ashland areas. Chamber representatives attended both meetings and you can read summaries here. A copy of the email sent by DRPTis also available for you. Currently, decisions on the Ashland area have been halted for further study. The Commonwealth Transportation Board will not formally review this project until late spring and after a public comment period following the EISII study release. We will continue to keep you informed. 

October 2016

The Virginia Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) and DRPT published a schedule of area meetings under the topic heading of “Funding the Right Transportation Projects.” They are promoting the meetings as an opportunity for people to “share … input on transportation improvements.” The notice states that they want the meetings to be a town hall session. It is likely that the EIS II study will be released during this time frame, possibly at one of the meetings.
